Brief Report on the First International Scientific Workshop “Geometry of Finsler Spaces with the Berwald-Moor’s Metric”
k010

The first international scientific workshop took place on October 15-22, 2005 in Cairo, Egypt. It was organized by the “Finsler Prize” noncommercial foundation for the development of the Finsler geometry research. It was also supported by Moscow Bauman State University (rector I.B. Fedorov, head of the Physics department A.N. Morozov, fellows T.M. Gladysheva, V.O. Gladyshev, D.G. Pavlov). This workshop was a logical continuation of the work of the corresponding Section of the International Conference “Physical Interpretations of the Relativity Theory” (Moscow, 2005). The participants of the workshop were scientists from Russia, Romania, China and Great Britain.

The first international scientific workshop

“Geometry of Finsler spaces with the Berwald-Moore metric”

15 – 22 October 2005
Cairo, Egypt

Dear Colleagues!

Finsler geometry is a natural extension of Riemann geometry and keeps its true potential in itself. The formal description of Finsler geometry is quite complicated. Therefore, it is considered as an object of abstract mathematical investigations. Nevertheless, there are solid reasons to think that even the simplest spaces with non-quadratic types of metrics, which are very close to well-known Euclidian and pseudo-Euclidian spaces, directly relate to the fundamental problems of theoretical physics.

The main topic of discussions of the international workshop is the Finsler geometry with the Berwald – Moore’s metric. The choice of this metric function is due to the following reasons.

PIRT-2005

Dear Collegues!

The international conference “Physical Interpretations of the Relativistic Theory”(PIRT-2005) is to be held on 4-7 July in the Moscow State Technical University n. a. N. E. Bauman (usually it is held in the London Imperial College). In the framework of the conference the section of the Finsler generalization of the relativistic theory is to be organized. The lots of Russian and some foreign specialists on the Finsler geometry attended at the section.

The claims for participating the section’s job should be sent in common order to the conference’s web-site: PIRT-2005 If there are any specific problems, demanding the solution in the frameworks of the section, write to: hypercomplex@mail.ru

One of the section’s aims was to make the preparations for the The first international scientific workshop “Geometry of Finsler spaces with the Berwald-Moore’s metric” (Cairo, Egypt, 15-22 October 2005). More detailed information on it is given on the “Conferences” page.
