in the field of Finsler Geometry “Finsler Prize” Dear Colleagues, You are invited to take part in the International Conference “Finsler Extensions of Relativity Theory” (FERT–2009) organized by Bauman Moscow State Technical University and The Research Institute of Hypercomplex Systems in Geometry and Physics, in Moscow and Fryazino (Moscow region), Russia, during 27 September 3 October 2009. This Conference continues the ongoing series of conferences, held every year since 2004 in Moscow, Russia (2007) and in Cairo, Egypt (2005, 2006, 2008). The materials of these Conferences can be found on this web page.
The main topics to be covered on FERT–2009 are the following: 1. Rashevskii’s Polymetric Geometry.
 2. The general philosophical and mathematical principles underlying the Finsler extensions of relativity theory.
 3. Different Finsler metric functions and the geometries of corresponding spaces.
 4. Spaces whose metric functions are symmetric polynomials depending on three variables of the third order ( the Berwald – Moor metrics ).
 5. Spaces whose metric functions are symmetric polynomials depending on four variables of the third order ( Chernov spaces ).
 6. Spaces whose metric functions are symmetric polynomials depending on four variables of the fourth order ( fourdimensional Berwald – Moor spaces ).
 7. Generalizations of the fundamental physical and geometrical structures in Finsler spaces.
 8. Models of the observer’s spacetime in Finsler extensions of Special Relativity Theory.
 9. Multilinear symmetric forms of vectors as Finsler extensions of the scalar product.
 10. Extensions of the canonic invariants in Finsler spaces (poly angles).
 11. Linear Finsler spaces and their connection with hypercomplex numbers.
 12. The symmetries of Finsler spaces.
 13. Isometric, conformal and extended conformal transformations of Finsler spaces.
 14. Finsler spaces and operations of the nth order.
 15. Experimental investigations and astrophysical observations designed to detect possible evidence for the anisotropy of real SpaceTime.
As it can be seen from this list, the Conference will give particular (though not exclusive) attention to the geometries whose metric functions are symmetric polynomials. This focus is connected with the fact that the quadratic form of the SpaceTime of Special Relativity is a symmetric polynomial dependent on four secondorder variables. Inasmuch as there are striking correspondences between such Finsler geometries and the geometries of classical and relativistic physics involving passage to the limit, we think there is a possibility to create an extension of Newtonian and Einstein gravity theories in this way.
The accommodation for participants and the main events of the Conference will be in Fryazino (Moscow region). The Organizing Committee plans to provide a cultural program including visiting museums and historical places of Moscow. Russian and English languages are the working languages at the conference. The Organising Committee plans to arrange synchronic interpretation for all participants. The completed Registration form together with an abstract of the talk/report (amounting up to 1 page) should be submitted by the participants by email until 31 July 2009 to the following address:
vgladyshev@mail.ru
Official information will be posted on this website.
The Registration Fee is 200 EUR.
